Dear Sharks Members
Yesterday we were advised by the DVBA of the potential return to basketball competitions, from the beginning of term three.
Delegates from all of the Junior Domestic Clubs will be meeting with DVBA Board Members and the Competitions Manager on the evening of Monday 22 June. The clubs will have the opportunity to discuss the details of the proposed resumption and ask specific questions they have.
The Victorian Premier has also just made a further statement about a return to tighter restrictions. The information does state that community sport can proceed as planned. As we have all learned during this pandemic, things can change very rapidly.
We will be in touch with all of our members, via email, early next week. Please keep an eye on your inbox. The email will provide all of the pertinent details about what will be required, of clubs and members, to make the return to basketball possible.
We know that our members will likely have lots of questions. Our formal communication will seek to preemptively address those, based on the advice we receive from DVBA who, in turn, are guided by Basketball Victoria and the Victorian health authorities.
While it is fantastic news that a return to basketball is imminent, much of the information from Basketball Victoria still includes ‘awaiting confirmation’ as subtext. Please be patient while we gather the most thorough information we can to pass on to you all.
Many thanks from a cautiously optimistic St Mary’s Basketball Club Committee!
