I hope you are all well and enjoying the eased restrictions – whether that be a coffee in a cafe with friends, some much needed shopping, or family or friends over for dinner.
I have attached a letter from Braden Cotter (General Manager of Diamond Valley Basketball Association) with an update on the potential return to basketball.
As you know, basketball has a couple of major hurdles to overcome in that it is indoors and a contact sport.
The aim is to get the juniors back on the court towards the end of November 2020 in their current Autumn 2020 teams – depending on the next Victorian Government announcements of easing of restrictions.
This will allow some games before Christmas and something to look forward to for our juniors.
A couple of important things to note:
- A pro rata partial refund will occur if the Autumn 2020 season is cancelled. As a club our financial position requires that if Autumn 2020 season does recommence for 4-5 games, registration funds are needed to be available to pay Diamond Valley for these games.
- As advised in the attached letter from Diamond Valley, the Autumn 2021 season registration may occur before a refund from A2020 can be given, which is currently out of our control with the uncertainty of the Autumn 2020 season recommencing.
Our AGM is fast approaching and further information will be sent out very soon.
We still do not have a Under 8 or Under 10 boys Age Group Coordinator/s for Autumn 2021. It is imperative the someone (or even two parents sharing the role) with a boy in either of these age groups fills these roles.
We want to make sure that these boys are able to get back onto the court along with the other age groups and placed into the correct teams.
Please contact myself or Kylie Harvey – email@example.com.
The roles are fully supported by outgoing coordinators and current committee members.
The committee will be meeting to go over any necessary tasks that will be needed to hopefully get the kids back on the court before the end of the year.
As any new information from Diamond Valley and Basketball Victoria comes through, I will forward on as soon as possible.
Looking forward to, hopefully, some locked in dates soon.
